John B. Scofield, M.D. – Doctor of Ophthalmology

Why Ophthalmology
I was drawn to ophthalmology because of the immediate and meaningful impact it can have on a patient’s life. The ability to restore or preserve vision with a single surgery is incredibly rewarding. I value the combination of medical and surgical care, as well as the opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients while helping them maintain their independence and quality of life.
Louisiana Roots
I am proud to have trained entirely in Louisiana, completing my undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, followed by medical school in Shreveport and residency in New Orleans. It has been deeply rewarding to care for the people and communities across our state. Having grown up just down the road in Lake Charles, it is especially meaningful to now practice closer to home in Acadiana.
What You Can Expect
My goal is to provide thoughtful, personalized care to every patient I see. I believe in taking the time to listen, clearly explain conditions and treatment options, and work together to create the best plan for each individual. Whether managing chronic eye disease or performing surgery, I am committed to delivering high-quality care in a way that makes patients feel comfortable and confident.
